Which RFID Do You Need?

Both. This trip crosses expressways run by different operators, using Easytrip and Autosweep RFID. If only one account is loaded you will be stopped part-way through the trip. Load both before you leave — NLEX uses Easytrip; SCTEX uses Easytrip; TPLEX uses Autosweep .

Getting to San Juan and San Fernando

From the Rosario exit, San Juan — the surf town most weekend traffic is headed for — is roughly half an hour further north along the coast on Manila North Road. San Fernando, the provincial capital, is a little beyond that. Neither leg is tolled.

You Need Both RFID Accounts

NLEX and SCTEX run on Easytrip, but TPLEX — the final and longest leg — runs on Autosweep. Northbound drivers are caught out by this constantly: an Easytrip-only car sails through Bulacan and Tarlac, then hits the TPLEX plaza with no way to pay. Load both before you leave Manila.

Continuing up to the mountains? The Manila to Baguio breakdown covers the same expressway legs plus notes on the Kennon and Marcos Highway approaches.
